I've been reading a lot in the Internet about Russian women – that they are poor, have low salaries and seek only men from wealthy countries in order to get their money.

Question: I've been reading a lot in the Internet about Russian women – that they are poor, have low salaries and seek only men from wealthy countries in order to get their money.
Answer: You may be sure that it is not true! Of course, most women come to the international dating agencies in order to find a financially stable man and to improve their own lives. But I would never say that they are poor. After the USSR collapsed, many women kept their apartments as their property which at once solves a lot of problems. Some people may think that they are very small, have only one or two rooms, but at least they belong to the women, and the women needn't pay for them all their life! Also, food and clothes in Russia are cheaper than in other countries. Most women in Russia can afford to buy a used car as it's not very expensive. Average salaries in Russia are about 500-600 USD. So women don't have to pay off a lot of loans, buy food and clothes which are rather cheap and get the salaries which is about the same as an unemployment benefit in the US. It turns out that they are not poor.

You may ask – why do they want to leave their country then? The answer is simple – they want a better life! But if a woman comes to a man who lives in the US or Europe and sees that his life standard is lower than in her country, of course, she leaves him at once. And the man starts thinking that she is a scammer and writing about her in all anti-scam sites.

Have a good look at all those “scam reports”; if we throw away those ones where the men themselves sent money to the complete strangers, the ones left will be quite ungrounded, something like “I was corresponding with her, then I decided to meet her, and she asked me for money to buy a ticket” or “We met, she started showing me around the restaurants, and I spent a lot of money, but when I left she said we aren't a good match”.
There may be a lot of various reasons why she thinks they are not a good match. Perhaps, he isn't a good lover, or perhaps, she just doesn't like him, or he may be too old for her because he wrote the wrong age at his profile and took off ten years... such things happen very often.

You may ask why should a person do all that – place unfounded information about scammers? The reason is simple – this is extra rating and extra visitors for the anti-scam sites. Visitors click the banner advertising in those sites and bring their owners large profits. So the owners of such sites use their visitors' gullibility in mercenary purposes. An example of such sites is Jim's list. The site is anonymous, its owner is unknown but he makes his own personal conclusions without even asking the interested parties. He only wants people to send him information, and he will publish everything in his site. The most important thing for him is scandal and popularity, because they allow him to get much money from the partnership programs.

Of course, not all anti-scam sites work in such a way. When you visit such sites, we advise you to pay attention to the information about their owners. Also, find out what the procedure of publishing information about scam in their sites looks like – what proof they require (letters, money transfers, passport etc.). Only in such sites you can receive the true information about scammers and their activity.

But the main rule to avoid being deceived is the same – don't send any money!
